Technical Difficulties & "Guns, Germs, and Steel!" (continued)

Today in the beginning of class Mr. Schick pulled up the "Guns, Germs, and Steel!" video on his laptop for us to finish. Unfortunately Mr. Schick's laptop had other plans for class by not letting us hear the video. We had to use Evan's laptop to watch the video and then finally we could watch the video with sound. Today we finally finished "Guns, Germs, and Steel!" Some notes I took on the movie today are:

-Making plaster from limestone was a big step
-Heating up the limestones for a long time at high temperatures allows the limestone to become plaster
-Plaster was used for sealing off homes to keep the house warm, cool, keep rain out, etc
-Because people in New Guinea spent so much time feeding themselves and getting food so that prevented them from getting so advanced like we are today
- Fertile Crescent is no longer farmable since it was over farmed and the land was worn out
-The Fertile Crescent has a fundamental weakness the area is dry and it does not rain there much
-Americans consume 20 million ton of meat a year
-The answer to the question: "Why do you explorers carry more cargo than us?" is Geography is the answer. It is the reason why people in New Guinea do not have as much cargo
