"Gun, Germs, and Steel!" Project

Today in class Mr. Schick told us that we were going to do a project in class today. We had to get into groups and then pick a number out of a hat. For this project I'm working with Jayla, Trish, and Rosemary. We got #2 so that meant we got to pick our topic second. We chose food, I did corn Trish did wheat Rosemary did rice and Jayla did sorghum. The notes I took on corn are:

-Native to southern Mexico
-Formed one of the earliest agricultural communities throughout the Americas
-Origins in central America
-The crop spreads up the western coast to northern America
-Domestication has fundamentally changed the genetic structure and behavior of the plant
-The corn used to only grow no larger than the human thumb, now they can reach over eight feet high
-Corn was seized by European colonists of the New World
